Of all the antique absinthe glasses, perhaps the rarest and most desirable are those made from ‘uranium glass’, which fluoresces brightly under UV light. Uranium glass is glass which has had uranium, usually in oxide diuranate form, added to a glass mix before melting for coloration. The proportion usually varies from trace levels to about 2% by weight uranium. Some early 20th-century pieces were made with up to 25% uranium.

Uranium glass became popular in the mid-19th century, with its period of greatest popularity being from the 1880s to the 1920s. It was during this time that the Uranium Absinthe Glass was originally introduced. Due to limited production and breakage throughout the years, original uranium absinthe glasses are extremely rare and highly sought after by collectors.

Jade Liqueurs owner and master distiller T.A. "Ted" Breaux (maker of the well-known and highly touted absinthes; Nouvelle-Orléans, Esprit Edouard, 1901 and C.F. Berger) has done a wonderful job of bringing these glasses to the world market by teaming with Bonnecaze Absinthe & Home and a local U.S. glassblower to produce these truly one of a kind glasses. Like the Jade Absinthes, these limited edition absinthe glasses are painstakingly handcrafted in the same material and style as the coveted originals. Each glass is individually laser etched with the Jade Liqueurs logo between the words "Jade Absinthe."
